ABOUT THE WEBMASTERS: John Stempien, a Michigan native, earned his Bachelor's Degree and Secondary Education Teacher's Certificate through The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1997. He is currently working towards completion of his Masters in Public History at Western Michigan University. John has served as an intern at Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum in South Haven, Michigan, designing their first website. From April 2004-December 2005 John designed this website for the Southwest Michigan's Fruit Belt Project through an internship at Ft. Miami Heritage Society of Michigan. As an alternative education instructor for Lowell Area Public Schools, he currently resides with his family in Southwest Michigan, enjoying the fruits of the region. Jennifer Black, also a Michigan native, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art History at Western Michigan University in 2002. She has completed internships at several institutions, including the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (Kalamazoo, MI), and the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington, DC). Jennifer has also worked at the Cleveland Museum of Art (Cleveland, OH), and is currently serving as Frederick S. Upton Fellow at the Fort Miami Heritage Society, in St. Joseph, MI. Jennifer will complete her fellowship and Master's Degree in Public History from WMU in April of 2006, and will continue her graduate work in history as a Doctoral Student at the University of Southern California in Fall 2006.
